Welcome to my website! I am Laura Steffen, a life coach for leaders. Don't think of yourself as a leader? As I learned (again) in my coaching training program at the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching,
"Leadership is how you interact with everyone, including yourself. EVERYONE is a leader either by choice or default. If you don’t think of yourself as a leader, then you are limited in your thinking. Leading is the way we help move people into action, including ourselves."
Besides all of the information and skills I learned at iPEC, while getting my MBA in Sustainable Business from Pinchot University (formerly Bainbridge Graduate Institute) and the years of experience I had creating and running entrepreneurship education and business school programs, the heart of my coaching method is centered around skills and processes I learned as a Fellow of Creating the Future. Its mission is to create a world where people are living well, individually and collectively.
By changing the questions embedded in the daily work of individuals, everyone naturally brings out the best in each other and in our world. The questions we ask ourselves and each other are informed by the assumptions we hold. We even hold assumptions about ourselves. In fact, those assumptions are frequently what hold us back from asking ourselves important questions, and hearing the important answers to those questions. If we can shift the assumptions we hold and the questions we ask, we can shift from a society of scarcity to one of abundance. That means more of what you want in your life--time, freedom, people, whatever it is that YOU WANT!
The leaders I speak with often feel alone and overwhelmed. They are looking for information, partners and emotional support. In coaching, I work with people, individually and in groups, who want to develop or strengthen their super-powers as leaders--of others and of themselves.
I also love working with women who are passionate about creating community in doing their work. In collaboration, we articulate ideas and a vision for work and life, and design a process that works for her. By maintaining her curiosity and flexibility while building her skills, confidence and toolbox, the experience is rewarding and powerful. In my role as coach, I also curate a group of collaborators to whom I refer clients for services or bring in to teach in workshops.
Thank you for helping me achieve my dream of contributing to a resilient community of leaders by telling your colleagues, friends and family about me, or contacting me, yourself! I look forward to collaborating with you!
